Wang Jeong-hoon secured a spot in the major tournament The Open.
On the 18th, at The Mines Resort Golf Club (Par 71, 6,756 yards) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during the 4th round of the Asian Tour IRS Prima Malaysia Open (total prize money $1 million), he made 11 birdies (1 bogey). He shot a 10-under-par 61 and finished as the runner-up (21-under-par 263). The second-place prize money is $110,000 (approximately 140 million KRW). Wang Jeong-hoon earned a spot in The Open this July, awarded to the top three players in this tournament. Born in 1995, Wang has won three times on the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour), with two wins in 2016 and one in 2017.
David Puig (Spain), who plays for LIV Golf sponsored by Saudi Arabian capital, won by 2 strokes (23-under-par 261). This is his second Asian Tour victory in four months since the Singapore International Series last October, with a winner's prize of $180,000 (approximately 240 million KRW). For Korea, Bae Sang-moon tied for 9th place (16-under-par 268), and Kim Bi-o tied for 13th place (15-under-par 269).
