‘Dream Orchestra Pohang’ Officially Starts, Recruiting Members to Join

Pohang Cultural Foundation to Recruit New Members for Dream Orchestra Starting 19th
Selected for Orchestra Self-Reliance Hub Project, Secures 25 Million KRW in National Funding
The Pohang Cultural Foundation is recruiting new members for the 2024 Dream Orchestra Pohang starting from the 19th.
The Dream Orchestra runs from March to December at the Pohang Culture and Arts Center and is an arts education program that helps children and youth in Pohang grow into healthy citizens through music.
Applications are open to children and youth aged 10 to 16 residing in Pohang, with priority given to those from culturally vulnerable groups.
They are recruiting about 20 members across 8 instrument sections including violin, viola, and contrabass. Even those without prior experience in playing instruments can apply if they have a passionate willingness to actively participate in the orchestra.

Selected members will be provided with instruments free of charge during the education period. They will have the opportunity to participate in the year-end regular concert through instruction on instrument playing and various ensemble training from professional art instructors.
This year, the Pohang Cultural Foundation was selected for the Dream Orchestra Self-Reliance Hub Planning Project "Dream Festival" hosted by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service. In May, in line with the World Culture and Arts Education Week, a traveling concert themed "Sea" is planned.
A representative from the Pohang Cultural Foundation said, "We hope that children and youth in our city will enjoy learning and sharing music through the Dream Orchestra activities," and added, "We ask for much interest in this new member recruitment."
