Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny has died while in custody.
On the 16th (local time), Russian news agency RIA Novosti, citing the Russian Federal Prison Service, reported that Navalny died at the No. 3 prison in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the northernmost Siberian region of Russia.

The authorities stated, "Navalny lost consciousness after a walk due to poor health," and although medical staff performed emergency measures, he died. They also added that the cause of Navalny's death is under investigation.
