Artificial intelligence (AI) company Saltlux announced that it achieved a record-high revenue of 30.6 billion KRW through the expansion of AI businesses such as chatbots, generative AI services, and large-scale language models in the financial, public, and private sectors.
Regarding the increased operating loss compared to the previous year, a company representative explained, "The rise is due to increased costs for generative AI services and new business initiatives by our subsidiary Flunit and the US branch, as well as higher equipment costs from purchasing hardware and AI semiconductors for the launch of generative AI appliances."
Saltlux has made large-scale investments over the past three years to secure a significant competitive edge. Through these efforts, last year they announced Korea’s first large-scale language model (LLM), ‘LUXIA.’ Through a project with Seoul Metro, they established Korea’s first safety ChatGPT, which will be provided as a full-scale public AI service starting this year. The world’s first generative AI appliance equipped with LUXIA, the ‘LUXIA Appliance,’ will be launched in the first half of this year. The appliance supports not only LUXIA but also open models such as GPT-4, and is highly versatile because anyone can use the generative AI solution immediately by simply turning it on, without the need for developers.
Saltlux CEO Kyungil Lee stated, "We expect that more than half of this year’s revenue will be secured through the large-scale language model (LLM) business," and added, "We plan to accelerate the recovery of invested R&D costs to bring forward the timing of turning profitable."
He continued, "Through business cooperation with Daiquest, which we acquired last year, and various partners such as NHN, we will rapidly expand our influence not only domestically but also globally in the LLM field," and added, "We will proactively respond to the rapidly growing market by leveraging the industry’s largest AI R&D talent pool and expanding subsidiary AI services."
