Security Guards Stop and Escort Them Out by Covering Their Mouths
On the 16th, the Presidential Office stated that the incident in which a KAIST graduate was restrained and removed by security guards at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) degree conferment ceremony attended by President Yoon Suk-yeol was an "unavoidable measure in accordance with laws, regulations, and security principles."
The Presidential Office spokesperson's office conveyed this through a press release in the afternoon, saying, "There was a disturbance at the KAIST degree conferment ceremony attended by President Yoon."
They further explained, "The Presidential Security Service took action to separate the person causing the disturbance to ensure security within the security zone and maintain order at the event venue."
It is reported that during President Yoon's congratulatory speech, a graduate shouted in protest against the reduction of this year's research and development (R&D) budget in the science and technology sector. Subsequently, security guards immediately restrained and removed the individual from the graduation ceremony site.
