Dongbu Construction announced on the 16th that it has achieved a total order amount of 340 billion KRW so far this year through consecutive orders over the past month.
Dongbu Construction secured a total of four projects this year, including two private projects such as the construction of the Korea Football Comprehensive Center, the company's first order of the year, and additional work for the Kumyang 300 million cell secondary battery production facility, as well as two public projects: the expansion and other works of the Incheon-origin KTX Songdo Station and the electrical work for Section 1 of the Expressway No. 14 between Changnyeong and Miryang.
All projects ordered this year fall under the non-residential sector. The company is pursuing portfolio diversification by leveraging its existing experience and strengths in civil engineering and architecture. Dongbu Construction plans to overcome the recession head-on by increasing profitability and minimizing risks amid high interest rates and a sluggish real estate market.
Dongbu Construction's total order backlog recorded 8.6 trillion KRW last year. Along with public construction projects, which are considered a strength, the company has steadily expanded and segmented its business areas into overseas infrastructure and industrial plants. Last year, it achieved an order volume of 600 billion KRW solely in overseas and plant business sectors.
Dongbu Construction plans to focus its capabilities on improving profitability and diversifying its business throughout this year as well. The company aims to enhance profitability by improving cost ratios and strengthening project management efficiency in existing businesses, while reducing the proportion of housing projects to respond to uncertainties.
A Dongbu Construction official stated, "The portfolio diversification efforts we have been pursuing are showing balanced order results from both public and private sectors since the beginning of the year," adding, "We will achieve solid growth this year by enhancing business stability while securing profitability in the private sector."
