This application process will be conducted through a non-face-to-face simple application method until the 29th of this month, and from March 4 to April 30, applications will be accepted in person at the eup and myeon offices for two months.

Those eligible for the non-face-to-face simple application are selected through prior verification by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and receive a text message with guidance on the simple application. Applications can be submitted online via the website provided in the received message.

New applicants, elderly care grade assessors, and out-of-area cultivators who are not eligible for the non-face-to-face simple application must apply in person during the two-month period starting March 4 by visiting the eup or myeon office with the largest farmland area and submitting the required documents.

Before applying for the direct payment, if there are any changes compared to the previous year in farmland area, address, or direct payment type, applicants must update their farmland ledger and agricultural management registration information before submitting the application.

Eligible applicants are farmers who have cultivated farmland meeting the requirements for rice, field, or disadvantaged condition direct payments, with a cultivation area of 1,000㎡ or more, and have actively farmed for more than one year (registered as an agricultural management entity for at least 90 days).

The payment rates are 1.3 million KRW per household for small-scale direct payments, and 1 to 2.05 million KRW per hectare for area-based direct payments, applied according to farmland size brackets.

The Basic Public Interest Direct Payment is a program that farmers apply for annually. Farmers wishing to apply must verify their eligibility and submit their applications within the designated period.

After eligibility screening of farmers and farmland, on-site inspections of actual cultivation, completion of education, participation in village community activities, and compliance with 17 mandatory requirements are completed, the direct payments are scheduled to be disbursed in December.

Jang Se-seok, Director of Agricultural Policy, stated, “The Public Interest Direct Payment is a subsidy program that supports farmers with certain qualifications to stabilize their income. In 2023, approximately 7.6 billion KRW was paid to 5,215 farmers in Uljin-gun.” He added, “Especially this year, with the increase of the small-scale direct payment from 1.2 million KRW to 1.3 million KRW, we hope this will help farms facing difficulties in agricultural management.”
