Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Yeong-min) announced that it will actively promote a maintenance project starting this year, investing a total project cost of 29.5 billion KRW by 2026 to prevent flooding damage, road subsidence, and river pollution caused by aging sewage pipes in the Gohung-eup and Doyang-eup areas.

Since 2022, the detailed design service has been underway and was completed in December 2023, with the first phase of construction beginning at the end of April this year.

The project plans to repair and replace a total of 17.9 km of aging sewage pipelines installed over 20 years ago in the Gohung-eup and Doyang-eup areas.

Once the aging sewage pipeline maintenance project is completed, it is expected to have significant effects such as preventing flooding damage, reducing sewage odors, preventing road subsidence, and preventing river pollution.

A Gohung-gun official stated, “We will promptly proceed with and complete the aging sewage pipeline construction to ensure the safety of residents' lives and create a pleasant urban environment,” adding, “We will do our best to manage the construction sites to minimize inconvenience to residents during the construction period.”
