Hong Ik-pyo: "If Visiting Room Salons Is the Criterion, Yoon Seok-yeol Is the Top Priority for Cheong Clearance"

'Debate Between Han Dong-hoon and Hong Ik-pyo Over "Clearing Out the Undongkwon"
Han: "Did Independence Activists Hand Out Money Envelopes and Go to Room Salons?"
Hong: "By That Standard, Political Prosecutors Should Be the Top Priority for Clearing Out"'

Hong Ik-pyo, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, claimed, "If we judge by the standards of exchanging money envelopes, frequenting room salons, and using foul language well, the group of political prosecutors including President Yoon Seok-yeol and Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, are the top priority targets for political cleansing."

On the morning of the 13th at a floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly, Floor Leader Hong stated, "The People Power Party suddenly demanded an apology, calling my remark that the ruling party's 'cleansing of the activist faction' theory is the same logic as that of pro-Japanese collaborators cleansing independence activists a harsh remark."

Earlier, Chairman Han Dong-hoon responded to Floor Leader Hong's statement that "the People Power Party's claim of 'cleansing the 86 generation' is the logic of pro-Japanese collaborators who disparaged independence activists," by retorting, "Which independence activist handed out money envelopes and used foul language in room salons?" Floor Leader Hong reiterated this, countering, "Who are the people that squandered special activity funds, which are taxpayers' money, like pocket money and shared them like allowances?"

He continued, "It is outrageous to disparage the entire democratization movement or target the entire faction for cleansing based on the mistakes of some politicians who participated in the democratization movement in the past," emphasizing, "Political prosecutors who have clung to power, abandoned human rights and justice, and cooperated in torturing, imprisoning, suppressing, and punishing democratization activists will not be allowed to disgrace the democratization movement for their own lust for power."

Additionally, Floor Leader Hong strengthened his 'political prosecutor offensive' targeting President Yoon and Chairman Han by mentioning that Prosecutor Son Jun-sung, who was indicted over the 'accusation ordering' suspicion, was sentenced to prison in the first trial.

He criticized, "It is a very serious matter that Prosecutor Son Jun-sung was sentenced to one year in prison due to the accusation ordering collusion with the ruling party in the last general election," adding, "A handful of political prosecutors abused investigative authority, personnel authority, and special activity funds to mock the judicial system and attempted political interference and case fabrication, which is a national disgrace."

In particular, he argued, "The first trial court strongly criticized that the prosecutor abused prosecutorial power by blatantly violating the core value of political neutrality that prosecutors must uphold," and insisted, "This ruling should serve as an opportunity for a thorough reinvestigation of the collusion between political prosecutors and the ruling party, as well as President Yoon and Chairman Han, who are pointed out as the upper echelon."
