Architectural education accreditation is a system introduced for the international mutual recognition of architectural education, and only graduates from architecture majors (or departments) accredited by this system can obtain the architect qualification.

The Department of Architecture at Pukyong National University first acquired full accreditation in 2008, the first among universities in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions, and has maintained the highest grade through the 2nd, 3rd, and now the 4th accreditation, with validity until January 2030.

With this accreditation, the Department of Architecture at Pukyong National University has been recognized for the excellence of its world-class 5-year architectural education program aimed at nurturing practical, creativity-driven, and convergent talents who will lead the future architectural environment.

In particular, the accreditation highly evaluated the department’s outstanding achievements in fostering key competencies required for architects such as ‘creative convergence,’ ‘collaboration,’ and ‘practical orientation,’ as well as the strong bonds and cooperation between full-time and adjunct professors, mutual respect between professors and students, students’ passion for education, and active participation in departmental clubs.

Professor Kim Min-seok, who oversaw the accreditation process, stated, “The faculty and students of the Department of Architecture worked together to advance architectural education and enhance major competencies, and with the university’s generous support, we were able to achieve this meaningful result. We will continue to do our best to cultivate excellent architectural professionals who will be active both domestically and internationally through a world-class architectural education program.”
