In the offices of district mayors and deputy mayors of Seoul's autonomous districts such as Mapo-gu, Eunpyeong-gu, Gwanak-gu, and Gangnam-gu, there are digital information boards that provide an at-a-glance view of the current status of each district.
These electronic information boards display everything about the district, from the list of key department personnel to the current status of redevelopment projects.
The district mayors and deputy mayors can instantly check the progress of redevelopment and other updates by simply touching the screen.
The era of searching through paper documents is gone, and the digital (online) age has arrived in the comfort of their offices.
Meanwhile, Gangseo-gu in Seoul has received positive evaluations for digitalizing the electronic department information boards installed in front of each department.
For example, when a reporter recently visited the Public Relations Policy Division of Gangseo-gu, the entrance displayed photos along with phone numbers and job descriptions of the department head Gang Hak-gu, media team leader Kim Jin-hee, and reporters Lee Hong-gyu, Shin Seung-woo, and Park Heon-gyo.
Because of this, Gangseo-gu automatically inputs employees' photos and job details during personnel changes.
This has the advantage of saving many autonomous districts the trouble of cutting and pasting photos of department heads and staff every time there is a personnel change.
Gang Hak-gu, head of the Public Relations Policy Division of Gangseo-gu, said, "When we digitalized the department staff lists at the district office in October-November 2022 and at the community service centers in January 2023, it became very convenient."
It is expected that many autonomous districts will accelerate digitalization in line with the trend of computerization of work.
