The export and order amount, which more than doubled compared to the previous year to reach $296 million in 2023, has established the intelligent farm (smart farm) sector as a new export industry, and a close support system to sustain the export growth is being strengthened.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 12th that, together with KOTRA, it has designated five trade offices in three promising regions? the Middle East, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and Oceania? as smart farm focused support trade offices, establishing a dedicated export and order support system. After designating the Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) trade office as the first smart farm focused support trade office last September, four new offices were added this year.
Domestic companies aiming to enter these regions can receive support through the focused support trade offices, including ▲legal consulting linked with local law firms ▲project and buyer discovery ▲market information research ▲customized resolution of difficulties per project. Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and KOTRA plan to collaborate this year with the focused support trade offices to provide various export and order support programs such as the 'K-Smart Farm Roadshow.'
Lee Sang-man, Director of Agricultural Food Innovation Policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, stated, "The smart farm focused support trade offices are expected to greatly assist domestic smart farm companies, which lack overseas experience and infrastructure, in expanding their overseas presence," adding, "We will continue to discover and promote the necessary support for smart farm companies to enter new markets."
