Reform New Party appoints Kim Manheum and Kim Yongnam as Policy Committee Chairs... First meeting tomorrow

The Third Zone Unified Reform New Party announced on the 12th that it will appoint former lawmaker Kim Yong-nam and former National Assembly Legislative Research Office chief Kim Man-heum as co-chairs of the Policy Committee.


For the party secretary-general, they nominated Kim Cheol-geun, who served as the chief of staff to the party leader when Lee Jun-seok, the Reform New Party leader, was the leader of the People Power Party. Former lawmaker Lee Hun, who previously served as secretary-general of New Future, was appointed as the chair of the Strategic Planning Committee.


Former lawmaker Heo Eun-ah, who left the People Power Party and joined the Reform New Party, was nominated as the chief spokesperson. Kim Hyo-eun, spokesperson of New Future, and Lee Gi-in, a member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, were assigned as spokespersons for the Unified New Party.

Earlier, the four forces of the Third Zone agreed on the 9th to merge into the Unified New Party and decided to name the party "Reform New Party." The co-representatives will be Lee Nak-yeon and Lee Jun-seok, and the Supreme Council members will be recommended one each from the Reform New Party, New Future, New Choice, and Principles and Common Sense. Lee Nak-yeon will serve as the overall election committee chair, and a unified joint convention is scheduled to be held shortly after the holiday.


The Reform New Party plans to announce the appointment of Supreme Council members in the afternoon after holding meetings with each faction. The first Supreme Council meeting is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. on the 13th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building.
