A man in his 40s who exhibited strange behavior, such as digging soil in a flowerbed with a spoon in a residential alley, was apprehended by the police. Investigation revealed that the man was attempting to trade drugs by burying them in the ground.
On the 8th, a video titled "The Spoon 00ma Following the Spoon Murderer" was uploaded to the National Police Agency's YouTube channel.
According to the video, on the night of the 15th of last month, the Gwangju Police Station received a report of "a man acting suspiciously in a residential area." The report stated that a man was climbing up a house using a gas pipe and then moving to another location.
The dispatched police searched the area and found a man matching the description given by the reporter in an alley of a residential area in Seo-gu. The man was sitting in front of a flowerbed in the alley, digging the soil with a spoon and burying something.
When the police approached, the man tried to run away but was immediately caught. Upon inspection, a small packet wrapped in insulating tape was found in the soil dug up by the spoon. The police believe this was a so-called "throwing" method of drug dealing, where drugs are buried in the soil for buyers to pick up later, and the man was urgently arrested.
After completing a search at the scene and taking the man to the police station for a body search, 15 methamphetamine doses and 18 liquid marijuana doses were found on his person. Additionally, specific drug transaction details were confirmed on his mobile phone.
The police arrested the man on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and handed him over to the prosecution. They plan to investigate accomplices and additional charges through further examination of his mobile phone.
At the end of the video, the police emphasized that "carrying, possessing, and using narcotics are clear crimes" and called them "terrorism that destroys the community."
