Russian Ambassador to North Korea: "Responsibility Lies with the US"... Raises Possibility of North Korean Nuclear Test

"South Korea, a Big Mistake if Decides to Support Ukraine with Weapons"

The Russian ambassador to North Korea claimed the possibility of North Korea conducting a nuclear test.

Alexander Matsegora, the Russian ambassador to North Korea, stated that if the United States continues to provoke, the possibility of North Korea conducting a nuclear test cannot be ruled out, according to Russia's Sputnik News on the 10th (local time).

In an interview, Ambassador Matsegora said, "If the provocations by the United States continue, and if they become increasingly dangerous, I do not rule out the possibility that the North Korean leadership may decide to carry out a nuclear test to strengthen their national defense capabilities."

In the Sputnik interview, Ambassador Matsegora said, "This is clearly an undesirable scenario," but added, "If such a thing happens, the responsibility will lie entirely with the United States and its allies."

Earlier, in an interview with Russia's TASS News on the 7th, Matsegora also explained that if the United States continues provocative moves in the region, North Korea might decide to conduct additional nuclear tests.

Ambassador Matsegora also mentioned South Korea. He said, "The United States is mentioning Russia's suspicions of purchasing weapons from North Korea to pressure South Korea regarding its support of weapons to Ukraine," emphasizing, "But that would be a big mistake on South Korea's part."

Matsegora claimed that Western countries, including the United States, have no evidence that North Korea is sending shells and missiles to Russia, and added, "I do not rule out the possibility that they might attempt to fabricate evidence."

He further stated, "The reason for the hysteria is clear; this is a way to pressure South Korea to directly supply ammunition to Ukraine," adding, "South Korea has a large stockpile of such military supplies."

Ambassador Matsegora then said, "I sincerely hope South Korea does not succumb to such provocations," warning, "This would be a very big mistake leading to widespread consequences."

In this interview, Matsegora also revealed that Russia has already received the necessary documents to begin joint offshore exploration of oil and gas fields with North Korea.

He said, "We have already received some of the documents, and some materials and maps will be delivered soon."

Sputnik News reported that North Korea and Russia agreed last November on joint offshore hydrocarbon exploration.
