What will be the next project after creating the Taehwagang Eulalia cluster and the toad migration path?
Ulsan City is starting to discover projects for the ‘Ecosystem Conservation Charge Refund Project’ to be promoted next year.
This project aims to restore damaged ecological environments such as creating habitats and ecological corridors. To this end, the Ministry of Environment selects projects annually through a public contest targeting local governments and others.
The project is promoted by refunding up to 50% of the ecosystem conservation charge paid by developers to the Ministry of Environment. The refunded amount is fully funded by the national government, with a maximum of 700 million KRW per project.
Ulsan City will select two projects on its own after investigating target sites and reviewing permit requirements to discover projects. Then, it will select an implementing agency for the nature conservation project and establish a project plan to submit an application to the Ministry of Environment in September this year.
If the two applied projects are finally selected, Ulsan City plans to secure up to 1.4 billion KRW in national funds and start construction in the first half of next year.
An official from Ulsan City said, “After applying, we will visit the Ministry of Environment and other review agencies to explain the necessity of the projects and strive to have them selected.”
Last December, Ulsan City secured 900 million KRW in national funds after the ‘Taehwagang Riverside Water Eulalia Cluster Creation Project’ and the ‘Janghyeon Retention Basin Wild Toad Ecological Corridor Creation Project’ were finally selected, and plans to start construction in the first half of this year.
