About 200 people attended the event, including Kim Seon-gyu, Chairman of Hoban Group; Song Jong-min, Vice Chairman of Hoban Industry; Park Cheol-hee, President of Hoban Construction; Kim Dae-heon, Chief Planning Officer of Hoban Group; Lee Ki-tae, CEO of Dongwoo Construction; and representatives from partner companies.
Hoban Construction presented plaques of appreciation and prize money to 42 outstanding partner companies across three categories: architecture, civil engineering, and safety. Every year, Hoban Construction invites partner companies to the New Year’s ceremony and holds an awards ceremony for excellent partners to promote communication and mutual growth.
At the New Year’s ceremony held on the same day, Kim Seon-gyu, Chairman of Hoban Group, stated, "We have supplied over 180,000 housing units so far, and we will continue to strive for stable housing for ordinary citizens. Through bold investments in the nation’s key industries, we will build energy infrastructure and contribute to the national economy by expanding exports." He added, "We will practice mutual growth with our partners in the spirit of coexistence and contribute our achievements to society in the right way."
Additionally, on the 23rd of last month, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, Hoban Construction and Hoban Industry, the construction affiliates of Hoban Group, made early payments of 150 billion KRW in construction fees to their partners. Hoban Construction and Hoban Industry have paid the full amount of construction fees in cash to their partners before holidays every year, but this year they acted even more swiftly due to concerns over a downturn in the construction market.
Hoban Group, including Hoban Construction, has been steadily working on win-win cooperation with its partners. Over the past six years, it has established a mutual growth cooperation fund totaling 85.6 billion KRW. As the first in the construction industry, it signed an agreement with the Mutual Growth Committee to support partner companies’ ESG initiatives actively. In addition, last year, it operated the ‘Safety with HOBAN’ program to strengthen partners’ capabilities in safety, held mutual cooperation workshops, and provided financial support among various other activities.
Meanwhile, Hoban Construction, founded in 1989 by the founder Kim Sang-yeol (currently Chairman of Seoul Shinmun), ranked 33rd in the business world last year (according to the Fair Trade Commission’s announcement of large business groups). Hoban Group’s construction affiliates, Hoban Construction and Hoban Industry, ranked 10th and 29th respectively in the 2023 Construction Company Performance Evaluation announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport last year. Hoban Group has also been steadily diversifying its business and securing future competitiveness through M&A, having acquired companies such as Daehan Electric Wire and Media in 2021.
