Busan City will hold the 'Vision Proclamation Ceremony for an English-Friendly City' at 2 p.m. on the 6th at Millak The Market.
This vision proclamation ceremony was organized to present the future vision of an 'English-Friendly City' and to inform citizens of the specific strategic directions and implementation tasks, following the establishment of a comprehensive plan to create an English-friendly city, which is a pledge of the 8th elected administration.
About 300 people will attend, including Mayor Park Hyung-jun, City Council Chairman Ahn Seong-min, Superintendent of Education Ha Yun-su, city council members, district mayors, representatives from academia, economic and business organizations, and general citizens.
The ceremony will proceed in the order of ▲presentation of the vision and strategy for an English-friendly city ▲appointment ceremony of the English-friendly city ambassadors ▲vision proclamation performance.
First, in the vision and strategy presentation, under the vision of a 'Global Hub City where Citizens are Happy,' five strategic directions for the 'English-Friendly City' will be proclaimed: ▲a city where parents do not worry about their children's English education ▲a city where global employment and entrepreneurship succeed ▲a city convenient for foreigners to tour ▲a livable global city ▲a global city where citizens empathize and participate.
Additionally, singer Kim Jo-han, formerly of the group Solid, will be appointed as the 'English-Friendly City Ambassador' to foster public consensus and communication with citizens.
Ambassador Kim Jo-han is the main vocalist of the group Solid, who led the Korean R&B wave and has been greatly loved by the public.
Born in the United States, he possesses excellent English skills and an English-friendly image, making him an ideal ambassador for promoting Busan as an English-friendly city.
Following the proclamation ceremony, a press conference will be held for the new English radio program 'All-Star English' on Busan English Broadcasting (BeFM 90.5MHz), which combines education and entertainment to make learning English easy and fun during the commute.
The press conference will be attended by Ambassador Kim Jo-han, UN Memorial Park Ambassador Campbell Asia, the city communication character 'Boogie,' and the versatile Shin Min-su from Busan English Broadcasting, who will all participate as program hosts.
At this event, attendees will introduce the program and reaffirm their commitment to creating an English-friendly city.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “For Busan to leap forward as a global hub city, a communication environment befitting that status is necessary. We will work together with citizens and the local community to create 'Busan, an English-Friendly City' where anyone born, raised, and living in Busan can freely learn and use English.”
