Apple's mixed reality (MR) headset 'Vision Pro' has been released. The price is $3,500 (approximately 4.66 million KRW). This is more than twice the minimum price of a typical premium smartphone. What happens if such an expensive electronic device is accidentally dropped on the floor? IT specialist overseas YouTuber 'Appletrack' conducted a durability test on the Vision Pro.

The test recreated all possible scenarios that could occur while wearing the Vision Pro at home. For example, dropping the Vision Pro from head height or colliding it with a wall or corner of the house.
In the corner collision experiment, the front glass of the Vision Pro was slightly scratched but did not suffer serious damage. Appletrack commented that the front glass was more durable than expected.
They also tested direct collisions between the wall and the Vision Pro. The Vision Pro is equipped with a so-called 'passthrough' feature that allows users to see the outside view inside the house. The test assumed the possibility of bumping into walls while walking around with passthrough turned on. The tester said that the Vision Pro was not damaged by moderate impacts and added, "Before the glass breaks, the user is more likely to get injured or suffer a concussion."
The test of dropping the Vision Pro from head height also withstood the impact relatively well. However, after repeated drops, issues began to appear with the speakers and power. After conducting eight drop tests, a crack eventually appeared on the front glass of the Vision Pro. Nevertheless, the Vision Pro itself still functioned.
After completing the test, Appletrack praised the Vision Pro, saying it is a "(very well-manufactured product in terms of durability)" and "especially the front glass of the headset, which was expected to be the most vulnerable, was sturdier than anticipated. Although the Vision Pro looks very fragile, it is not actually so."
