KOSPI, Institutional Investors Net Sell... Return Below 2600 Level After One Day

The KOSPI surrendered the 2600 level as it fell nearly 1% due to net selling by institutions.


On the 5th, the KOSPI closed at 2591.31, down 24.00 points (0.92%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, individuals and foreigners were net buyers of 512.1 billion KRW and 178.8 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, institutions were net sellers of 724.1 billion KRW.


By sector, transportation and warehousing, and services fell more than 2%. Securities, pharmaceuticals, electrical and electronics, and machinery also dropped more than 1%. On the other hand, non-metallic minerals rose 4.03%, and transportation equipment increased 1.14%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 74,300 KRW, down 900 KRW (1.20%) from the previous trading day. NAVER and KB Financial fell 6.09% and 5.43%, respectively, while Kakao also dropped 2.31%. Additionally, SK Hynix, Samsung Biologics, Kia, Celltrion, and Samsung SDI declined more than 1%. Conversely, Hyundai Motor rose 4.85%, and LG Chem increased 1.30%.


On this day’s KOSPI, 437 stocks rose without any hitting the upper limit, 460 stocks fell without any hitting the lower limit, and 40 stocks remained unchanged.


The KOSDAQ closed at 807.99, down 6.78 points (0.83%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, foreigners and institutions were net sellers of 119.2 billion KRW and 175.8 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, individuals were net buyers of 319.8 billion KRW.


By sector, computer services and semiconductors fell more than 2%. Medical precision instruments, software, paper and wood, internet, and IT components also declined more than 1%. On the other hand, transportation equipment parts rose 2.79%, and broadcasting services increased 1.09%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 224,500 KRW, down 4,500 KRW (1.97%) from the previous trading day. EO Technics and Lino Industrial fell 4.49% and 3.84%, respectively. Celltrion Pharm also declined 2.39%, while EcoPro, HPSP, Pearl Abyss, and JYP Ent. dropped more than 1%. Conversely, Shinseong Delta Tech surged 18.54%, and Enchem rose 5.80%. Additionally, HLB and Kakao Games increased more than 1%.


On this day’s KOSDAQ, 585 stocks rose, including 6 stocks hitting the upper limit such as CCS and Hellisys. Without any hitting the lower limit, 960 stocks fell, and 92 stocks remained unchanged.
