Hot News Delivered by Us! ... Pohang City 'Social Media Reporters' Activities Begin

On the 1st, Pohang City held the inauguration ceremony for the 6th Pohang City Social Media Reporters, where citizens directly share the city's hot news.

The reporter group was first formed in 2011 and has been operating for 13 years, delivering vivid and diverse local news through Pohang City's official SNS channels (blog, Instagram, Facebook, etc.).

Especially this year, the name of the reporter group was changed to ‘Pohang City Social Media Reporters,’ and the structure was reorganized into three fields: blog division (10 members), photography division (10 members), and video/short-form division (10 members), enabling multifaceted content planning, production, and utilization.

Also, this inauguration ceremony broke away from the traditional rigid format by preparing various events such as a ‘Post-it Board’ to hear the voices of the reporters, a ‘Song Quiz’ using songs of Pohang citizens, and a ‘Po·Jal·Al (Pohang Knowledge) Initial Consonant Quiz,’ which received great responses from attendees.

Lee Sang-cheol, the city government special advisor, said, “With the spread of social networks (SNS), a culture of sharing diverse information and creating content to communicate with others is becoming important. In line with these new changes, the role of the social network reporters promoting the region from the citizens’ perspective is becoming more significant, so I hope you will take pride and actively engage in supporter activities.”

Pohang City plans to provide various supports both online and offline to enable active activities by social reporters, including ▲payment of a certain activity fee (manuscript fee) to outstanding reporters ▲operation of fam tours to grasp new trends ▲special coverage support during various festivals such as the Pohang International Fireworks Festival ▲capacity-building education.
