In anticipation of the Lunar New Year holiday, Pohang City has established a 'Comprehensive Lunar New Year Holiday Plan' and is making every effort to ensure that citizens and visitors have an enjoyable and hassle-free holiday.
To this end, the city has organized emergency duty teams and operates a comprehensive situation room focusing on four major measures: ▲ a generous and vibrant holiday ▲ a safe holiday for citizens ▲ a pleasant holiday without inconvenience ▲ a warm holiday for everyone.
From the first day of the holiday on the 9th through the 12th, the city will activate a comprehensive situation room staffed by 356 personnel across 15 teams, including disaster and accident management teams, emergency economic situation teams, transportation countermeasure teams, cleaning management and environmental monitoring teams, and road management teams. They plan to respond to various unexpected situations such as citizen inconveniences and safety accidents that may occur during the holiday period.
In particular, safety pre-inspections will be conducted at major tourist attractions and multi-use facilities and transportation infrastructure that attract large crowds during the holiday, such as Hwanho Park Space Walk and Marine Skywalk, Cheongha Gongjin Market, Guryongpo Japanese House Street, Homigot, and Jukdo Market. Tourist information centers and transportation countermeasure teams will also be operated to minimize inconvenience for citizens and tourists.
Regarding forest fires, which can cause significant damage during the winter season, a Forest Fire Prevention Headquarters will be operated to strengthen patrols in fire-prone areas within the region, conduct publicity and guidance to prevent arson, cooperate with related organizations, and focus on establishing an early fire suppression system in case of fire outbreaks.
Additionally, a cleaning mobile team will be organized to handle waste disposal during the holiday period, preparing for issues related to household and food waste dumping. The city will also actively prepare for daily inconveniences such as illegal parking enforcement, emergency medical services, and emergency water supply.
For the convenience of civil petitioners, an emergency system will be maintained by day and night duty personnel to ensure that emergency workers receive and promptly transfer daily civil complaints to the responsible staff for swift processing. Unmanned civil service issuance machines will be pre-inspected to minimize inconvenience for citizens’ civil affairs during the holiday period.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “Pohang city officials will do their utmost without any gaps in their respective roles to ensure that both Pohang citizens and visitors to their hometowns have a joyful and warm holiday.”
