Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's luxurious summer villa, where he spent lavish holidays during his lifetime, has been listed for sale at a price worth several hundred billion won. On the 31st of last month (local time), the British Financial Times (FT) reported, "Berlusconi's children have decided to sell the villa 'Villa Certosa,' located on the coast of Sardinia, through the real estate advisory firm 'Diles' for 500 million euros (approximately 720 billion won)."

The villa was purchased and renovated by Berlusconi in the late 1980s and is situated on a 110-hectare (1.1 million square meters) estate on the northeastern coast of Sardinia, known as the "heart of the Mediterranean." It is known to feature ultra-luxurious facilities including 68 rooms, 6 to 7 swimming pools, tennis courts, a garden the size of 80 football fields, an amphitheater, and a passage directly connected to the Mediterranean Sea. Roughly, this amounts to about 10 billion won per room. Former U.S. President George W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Russian President Vladimir Putin have all visited this place.

Potential buyers likely include billionaires from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, India, and the United States. Global hotel groups may also show interest. However, it is predicted that the transaction will proceed without public advertising, instead contacting potential buyers with purchasing power individually. FT reported, "The Berlusconi family owns many other properties," adding, "They plan to keep only some of them as family-owned."

Former Prime Minister Berlusconi was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in April last year and passed away at the age of 86 on June 12 in a hospital in Milan while undergoing treatment. He entered the construction business in 1961 and became self-made. Starting with cable TV broadcasts aimed at apartment residents in 1973, he grew into Italy's "media tycoon." Later transforming into a politician, despite being embroiled in numerous sexual scandals, corruption allegations, and mafia connections throughout his terms, he served as prime minister four times, setting the record as the longest-serving prime minister since Mussolini.
