Leading Tech Startup 'Nandokgwa Munhaeryeok Yeonguso'... Next-Generation eBook Superbook Store Opens

Leading tech startup Dyslexia and Literacy Research Institute announced on the 31st the official opening of the next-generation e-book store ‘Superbook’ aimed at improving dyslexia and literacy.

Superbook, developed by Dyslexia and Literacy Research Institute as the world’s first, is a brain-cognition-friendly e-book that integrates the ‘Word Player,’ a type of changing text presentation technology, and ‘Deolkeoki (Auto Pop-up Notes),’ an automatic annotation pop-up technology, into the viewer.

The Word Player guides eye movement to support 精速讀 (jeongsokdok), meaning focused and sequential fast reading of every word. Deolkeoki solves the modern vocabulary deficiency problem through immediate word explanations. Superbook is an innovative technology that addresses reading disabilities. It is attracting attention as a game changer in the e-book market by raising the readability, a known limitation of e-books, to a level surpassing that of paper books.

With support from the Korea Copyright Protection Agency last year, Dyslexia and Literacy Research Institute built the Superbook platform, the first in Korea to adopt the international standard DRM, an e-book copy protection technology. They explained that securing distribution stability enabled the official opening of the store this time. The company is currently focusing on acquiring e-book sources and aims to provide 100,000 e-books by 2025.

Seho Park, CEO of Dyslexia and Literacy Research Institute, stated, “We have completed invention patent registration for Superbook in both Korea and the United States,” emphasizing, “The possibility of entering the global market, including English-speaking services, is wide open.” He also expressed his ambition, saying, “Through Superbook, the solution to the literacy collapse, we will lead the literacy revolution (文解革命) and fully contribute to nurturing 5 million heavy readers, who form the foundation of national competitiveness such as 4th industrial storytelling.”
