The KOSPI, which started on an upward trend, fell below the 2500 mark due to simultaneous selling by individuals and foreigners. The foreigners' net buying streak, which had continued for seven consecutive trading days, also stopped after eight days.

원본보기 아이콘On the 30th, the KOSPI index closed at 2498.81, down 1.84 points (0.07%) from the previous session. The index, which started the day higher, held the 2520 level but then widened its decline and eventually gave up the 2500 level.
In the KOSPI market, institutions bought stocks worth 191.8 billion KRW, while individuals and foreigners sold net amounts of 185 billion KRW and 13.5 billion KRW, respectively. Foreigners showed a buying advantage early in the session but switched to net selling during the day. As a result, the foreigners' net buying streak, which had continued for seven consecutive trading days since the 19th, also stopped.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, only Samsung Biologics (2.88%), SK Hynix (1.41%), and POSCO Holdings rose. Most of the top stocks, including Hyundai Motor (-2.86%), Kia (-1.90%), NAVER (-1.18%), Celltrion (-1.16%), LG Energy Solution (-0.66%), and Samsung Electronics (-0.13%), were weak.
By sector, insurance (2.11%), non-metallic minerals (1.80%), securities (1.66%), medical precision instruments (1.52%), and pharmaceuticals (0.92%) closed higher, while transportation equipment (-1.69%), machinery (-1.30%), electric and gas utilities (-1.29%), transportation and warehousing (-0.60%), services (-0.49%), and chemicals (-0.25%) declined.
Ji-won Kim, a researcher at KB Securities, analyzed, "Despite the strong U.S. stock market, the KOSPI showed a sluggish trend near the 2500 level, with low price-to-book ratio (PBR) stocks and sectors such as insurance, securities, steel, and liquidity showing strength."
The KOSDAQ index closed at 818.86, down 0.28 points (0.03%) from the previous trading day (819.14). The KOSDAQ index started the day at the 820 level, higher than the previous day, but after fluctuating, it eventually turned downward.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, bio stocks such as HLB (10.62%) and Alteogen (8.46%) showed strong performance. In addition, Enchem (2.24%) rose.
On the other hand, most of the top market capitalization stocks, including Rainbow Robotics (-5.79%), EcoPro BM (-3.08%), EcoPro (-1.73%), Lino Industrial (-1.17%), Celltrion Pharm (-0.47%), JYP Ent. (-0.39%), and HPSP (-0.11%), declined.
