Korea National Oil Corporation (President Kim Dong-seop) hosted a visit from the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) working-level team at its headquarters on the 29th to share energy policies between Korea and Japan and discuss areas of mutual cooperation in CCS and hydrogen-ammonia projects being promoted by both organizations.

Following a proposal for regular meetings in low-carbon new energy fields (CCS, hydrogen-ammonia) during a CEO-level meeting between the two organizations last December, this visit was conducted as a follow-up to explore specific areas of cooperation through working-level discussions.
Park Hyun-gyu, Head of the Stockpiling Business Division at KNOC, welcomed the JOGMEC delegation and stated, “We hope that both organizations can strengthen cooperation in the low-carbon new energy sector to enhance synergy and achieve a win-win outcome.”
During the working-level talks, KNOC explained its ongoing new energy projects including CCS, hydrogen-ammonia, and offshore wind power, proposing cooperation in energy sectors related to Net Zero. The JOGMEC delegation expressed positive views on this. Additionally, both parties shared their current status and plans regarding energy security and oil stockpiling.
After the working-level discussions, the JOGMEC delegation concluded their visit by touring the underground storage facilities at the Ulsan oil stockpiling base.
This visit served as a practical foundation for expanding the existing cooperation between the two organizations in oil stockpiling to areas such as energy security and hydrogen-ammonia, and it is expected that further discussions will concretize cooperation development plans between KNOC and JOGMEC.
