On the 30th, the Ministry of Environment announced plans to establish the 'Environmental Health Integrated Monitoring and Evaluation System' (SALUS) within this year, and that the necessary 'Environmental Health Big Data' will be prepared by May.
The environmental health big data will consist of millions of records across 19 fields, including environmental data such as air pollutant emissions and vegetation indices, as well as socioeconomic data like population numbers.
The Ministry of Environment explained that once the integrated monitoring and evaluation system utilizing this data is completed, it will enable 'environmental health policies based on scientific evidence.'
The Ministry further explained that once the system is established, it will be easy to understand the scale and patterns of environmentally related diseases such as atopic dermatitis and asthma, and it will be possible to identify factors threatening public health and take preventive measures in advance.
An official from the Ministry of Environment stated, "This integrated monitoring and evaluation system can multidimensionally monitor and evaluate the status and level of environmental health by integrating information from various fields such as environmental factors, health, population, and socioeconomic data."
