KakaoBank, the First Financial Company to Use Generative AI for Diary Writing

KakaoBank is hosting the ‘Today’s mini Diary’ event, where generative AI (artificial intelligence) writes diaries for KakaoBank mini customers. This is the first customer-facing event in the domestic financial sector to apply generative AI technology.

‘Today’s mini Diary’ analyzes the payment history of teenage customers using the mini card and automatically creates a diary-style entry. The event is available for one month until the 29th of next month. By clicking the ‘View My Day’ button, a diary describing the places where the mini card was used is automatically generated.

After reading the diary, by pressing the ‘Confirm’ button, users can receive the emotion of the day expressed in colors based on the AI-generated diary. After the diary is created, pressing ‘Receive Random Cash’ allows users to get random cash for the day. Participation is allowed once per day during the event period. Diary creation and reward acquisition are only possible if there is at least one mini card payment history on the day of participation.

KakaoBank mini is a prepaid electronic payment method that can only be opened by teenagers aged 7 to 18. Since its launch in October 2020, about 1.6 million teenagers have signed up by the end of last year. The mini card is an exclusive card for KakaoBank mini customers, offering ATM deposit and withdrawal services without fees and T-money charging functions via mobile phone near-field communication (NFC) contact methods.

A KakaoBank representative said, "We prepared this event so that teenage customers who are not familiar with financial services can enjoyably develop financial habits through KakaoBank," adding, "We will continue to strive to utilize KakaoBank’s artificial intelligence technologies for customer convenience."
