Two Armed Assailants Attack Cathedral in Istanbul... 1 Dead

One person was killed during a worship service on the 28th (local time) in a Catholic church in Istanbul, the capital of T?rkiye, due to an armed assailant attack.

Ali Yerlikaya, T?rkiye's Minister of the Interior, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that "a masked man attacked the Santa Maria Church in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul at around 11:40 a.m.," adding, "Authorities are working to apprehend the perpetrators."

He added, "One of the worshippers tragically lost their life due to the armed attack," and "We strongly condemn this heinous attack."

However, Turkish authorities have not disclosed what weapons the armed assailants used in the crime. The motive behind the attack is also still unknown.
