The 'Future Grand Alliance,' led mainly by lawmakers who left the Democratic Party, and 'New Future,' led by former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon, announced on the 28th that they have agreed to jointly establish a new party.

Park Won-seok, co-representative of the Future Grand Alliance, and Shin Kyung-min, National Communication Committee Chair of New Future, held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office on the same day, stating, "This is to respond to the public's expectations and mandate to break vested interests, innovate politics, reform society, and transition to the future."


They said, "The upcoming provincial party founding conventions after today will take on the character of a unified party founding convention for both parties, and the central party founding convention will be held on February 4. The name of the unified party has been decided as the Reform Future Party (tentative). It signifies leading reforms in political reform, social reform, and livelihood reform, and moving toward the future."


They added, "The leadership system and personnel of the Reform Future Party will be finalized and revealed at the founding convention. We have agreed to reject hegemony and operate the party based on the principles and systems of democratic consensus. The party platform and election pledges will be unveiled starting this week, with democracy, livelihood, and the future as the core keywords."
