The Presidential Office announced that Policy Chief Sung Tae-yoon held a meeting on the 26th afternoon with vice ministers from 16 related ministries to discuss recent fiscal issues.

President Yoon Suk-yeol presided over a Cabinet meeting on the 16th and stated, "We must not indiscriminately impose charges simply because it is easy to secure funding," adding, "We need to conduct a full investigation of the current 91 charges and reconsider them from the ground up."

This directive calls for a major restructuring of statutory charges, which are quasi-taxes collected by the government from citizens and businesses amounting to about 24 trillion won annually, covering a total of 91 items.

Chief Sung urged, "Please actively identify measures to abolish or reduce charges that impose excessive burdens on citizens and businesses or have diminished validity due to changes in economic and social conditions, and promptly prepare improvement plans so that the public can immediately feel the effects. Departments should collaborate closely."

The vice ministers shared a sense of urgency regarding the recovery of the people's economy and agreed to prioritize achieving the rapid execution targets for the first half of this year, mobilizing the capabilities and available means of all ministries to ensure that the public can quickly experience the warmth of economic recovery.
