The Ministry of National Defense and The Born Korea announced that on the 26th, they signed a business agreement at the Ministry of National Defense building in Yongsan, Seoul, attended by Lee Gap-su, Military Supply Officer, and CEO Baek Jong-won, to strengthen the operational capabilities of military meal services.
The two organizations plan to select a pilot unit next month to promote improvements in restaurant operation methods, develop cooking utensils suitable for military meals, and transfer cooking techniques.
Through this, they aim to establish a standard model for improving military dining facilities and review expanding consulting projects based on the results.
In particular, the two organizations have agreed to work together to support employment for discharged cooking soldiers. Specific measures will be discussed later.
CEO Baek Jong-won was commissioned in 1989 as the 14th class of Army Officer Cadets and served as a management officer for the officers' dining hall at the 7th Artillery Brigade. Two years ago, he appeared on the tvN variety show "Baekpacker," cooking at the military dining hall of a subordinate unit of the Army's 1st Infantry Division, continuing his connection with military meals.
The Ministry of National Defense explained, "CEO Baek Jong-won has a special affection for the military, and The Born Korea specializes in developing new menus through easy and simple cooking methods," adding, "We expect this to greatly help improve the military meal sector, which faces issues such as declining cooking soldier proficiency."
