Bank of Korea Establishes Sustainable Growth Office to Address Climate Change and More

The Bank of Korea announced on the 26th that it will strengthen its response to sustainability growth issues at the central bank level by establishing a Sustainability Growth Office directly under the Governor.


The Sustainability Growth Office will carry out tasks such as research on sustainability issues including climate, and monitoring domestic and international regulatory policy trends.


An official from the Bank of Korea explained, "We will enhance the economic impact analysis of sustainability growth issues on the real financial sector and build a climate change stress test model," adding, "Through this, we will contribute to a systematic response at the central bank level."


He also added, "We plan to strengthen efforts to respond to climate change from the perspective of internal management, including managing the Bank of Korea's greenhouse gas emissions."
