Establishment of 100 Billion Won Investment Fund and Customized Support Planned
As a hinterland city of the new airport and having finally achieved designation as a ‘National Advanced Strategic Industry (Semiconductor) Specialized Complex’ in July 2023, Gumi City is making a full-scale push to attract corporate investment in 2024 with a life-or-death determination.
On the 15th, President Yoon Suk-yeol announced at the ‘Public Livelihood Discussion with the People’ that a total of 622 trillion won in private investment will be made to create the world’s largest ‘Semiconductor Mega Cluster.’
In response, Gumi City plans to actively promote its strengths and investment support systems by holding an investment attraction briefing session titled ‘A Great Transition to the Local Era from the Perspective of Investment Attraction’ on February 1 at the Seoul Skyview Convention Center, targeting companies in the metropolitan area.
Through the enactment and revision of ordinances last year, the city became the first local government nationwide to support up to 10 billion won in sewerage cause self-contribution fees for corporate investments, and will establish a 100 billion won investment attraction fund by 2027 to provide customized support needed by investing companies.
Additionally, by revising the ‘Gumi City Ordinance on Promotion of Enterprises and Investment Attraction,’ the city plans to significantly relax support conditions such as employment numbers and scale, and focus on creating a favorable investment environment.
To efficiently promote various corporate support policies, the city operates SNS channels such as the so-called ‘Gumi is the Place to Attract!’ Instagram and carries out corporate attraction activities both online and offline.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, “Since Gumi City has been designated as a semiconductor specialized city, we will implement bold investment attraction and support-centered administration so that the perception ‘Gumi is the best for corporate attraction, and success comes when you come to Gumi’ can be established,” and urged many companies to participate in Gumi City’s investment attraction briefing session.
