Former U.S. President Donald Trump is proving his 'momentum' in the Republican presidential primary race. He won again in New Hampshire, the second Republican primary state after Iowa.

According to the AP vote count status at around 8:40 PM (26% counted), former President Trump secured 53.5% of the vote, leading former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who received 45.6%, by 7.9 percentage points.

Although the counting is still ongoing, former Ambassador Haley acknowledged Trump's victory in a speech. She said, "I want to congratulate him on his win. However, the Republican primary is not over." Since she secured over 40% of the vote and performed well, this is interpreted as her intention not to withdraw but to counterattack in next month's South Carolina primary. Haley previously served as the governor of South Carolina.

The New Hampshire primary held that day is the second presidential primary for the U.S. Republican Party. Although the number of delegates allocated to New Hampshire is only 22, accounting for 0.9% of the total, it is significant as the first primary held after the race was reshaped into a head-to-head contest between Trump and Haley. Also, unlike the Iowa caucus, which was the first contest and only open to Republican party members, the primary allows general voters to participate, providing a better gauge of public sentiment.

Earlier, on the 15th, former President Trump won 51% of the vote in the Iowa caucus, defeating his competitors. Subsequently, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy withdrew, solidifying the Republican primary race into a contest between former President Trump and former Ambassador Haley.

The next Republican primaries will be held in Nevada (26 delegates) and the Virgin Islands (4 delegates) on February 8, followed by South Carolina (50 delegates) on February 24. Then, on 'Super Tuesday,' March 5, when 847 delegates will be decided, primaries will be held in 16 states including California (169 delegates) and Texas (161 delegates).
