This meeting was organized for Mayor Lee to visit not only the priority projects of this year but also livelihood-related projects, to review their progress and future plans, communicate with senior officials, and identify difficulties faced on site.

The meeting began with a briefing on the replacement construction project of the ‘Jukdo Market Dongbin Bridge,’ where the bridge deck had sagged due to aging and corrosion from seawater, at the entrance of Jukdo Fish Market. Participants then walked the 2 km stretch from Dongbin Inner Harbor to the passenger ship terminal to inspect key sites firsthand.

The attendees checked the progress of the old Suhyup Frozen Warehouse complex cultural space and the Haksan Stream ecological restoration project along the walking route, continuing communication by discussing with relevant departments whether there were any difficulties in the process.

In particular, during the on-site meeting, they visited the Dongbin Bridge construction site, where a total of 73.8 billion KRW is being invested, to review the progress and urged careful attention to safety as the project proceeds.

Pohang City began construction of Dongbin Bridge in June 2021 and is currently working on the pier foundation. Efforts are being accelerated to advance the opening date by about six months from the original June 2026 schedule.

Mayor Lee Gang-deok emphasized, “Once Dongbin Bridge opens, it will significantly reduce commuting time to POSCO and the Steel Management Corporation, as well as improve traffic flow in the city by dispersing traffic volume.” He added, “We will regularly inspect and improve major projects closely related to citizens’ lives and personally oversee their progress.”

Following the key project sites in Buk-gu, Mayor Lee plans to hold another on-site communication meeting in Nam-gu eup, myeon, and dong on the 24th. On the 15th, he visited Gigaemyeon to hold a ‘Citizen Communication and Empathy Day,’ strengthening field-centered administration that communicates with citizens.

Especially to gather public opinion and reflect it in policy, the mayor intends to continue visiting sites directly to resolve city administration issues. He repeatedly urges senior officials to actively engage in all projects with a proactive attitude, prioritizing citizens’ interests and the development of the city to build a premium city.

Mayor Lee Gang-deok stated, “When promoting projects closely related to citizens’ lives, it is essential to accurately inform citizens of the project’s purpose and actively listen to their voices.” He added, “Going forward, I will continue to see, hear, and feel things directly on site and work together to find solutions to all projects from the citizens’ perspective.”
