The Moment They Dismantled a Retired Soldier's House... "Everyone Suffered"

A construction worker remodeling a bathroom caused a commotion after discovering a 'grenade' inside a wall. The grenade is believed to have been left by a retired soldier in the past.

According to Washington state media including The Washington Times, on the 20th (local time), a construction worker remodeling a house in Seattle found a grenade inside the wall of the home, prompting an evacuation.

At the time of the incident, the construction worker Vadim was focused on removing the bathtub. He realized that there was something like a partition installed inside the wall, and inside the partition, he found a strange object. Vadim said, "At first, I thought it was a pipe," and added, "As I was removing the bathtub and got closer to the wall, I shouted, 'Oh my God, it's a damn grenade!'" describing the situation.

After discovering the grenade, Vadim quickly left the bathroom and informed the homeowner. Shocked, the homeowner immediately contacted the Washington state police, and shortly after, the bomb disposal unit arrived at the house. Fortunately, the grenade was inert, and the disposal team safely removed the explosive. Police estimated that the grenade was manufactured at least several decades ago.

Vadim told the Washington state affiliate of CBS, "(The police) mentioned World War II," suggesting that the grenade might have been made in the 1930s or 1940s. He explained, "Retired soldiers brought weapons and items back from the battlefield, and someone might have stored it (in the wall) and perhaps forgotten about it."
