[Breaking] South Korea draws 2-2 with Jordan... Son Heung-min scores opening goal

The South Korean national football team drew 2-2 with Jordan in their second match of Group E at the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup.

Led by coach J?rgen Klinsmann, the team got off to a smooth start as Son Heung-min earned a penalty kick and successfully scored just five minutes into the match held on the 20th at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Eventually, in the 36th minute of the first half, an own goal by Park Yong-woo during a corner kick situation allowed Jordan to equalize. Park Yong-woo awkwardly headed the ball while trying to clear it, but it ended up going into the goal. Then, around the 6th minute of added time in the first half, Yazan Al-Naimat scored a go-ahead goal, leaving South Korea trailing 1-2 at halftime.

Coach Klinsmann made substitutions at the start of the second half, replacing Park Yong-woo and Lee Gi-je with Kim Tae-hwan and Hong Hyun-seok. In the 24th minute of the second half, Jo Gyu-seong and Lee Jae-sung were substituted out for Jung Woo-young and Oh Hyun-kyu to intensify the attack. However, the team struggled to create decisive chances, and the frustrating flow continued.

The national team equalized in the 45th minute of the second half. Kim Tae-hwan made a breakthrough on the right side and delivered a cross that slightly brushed Oh Hyun-kyu's head, allowing the ball to flow to Son Heung-min on the left. Son then cut the ball back to Hwang In-beom in the center, whose left-footed shot deflected off the opposing defense and was sucked into the goal.

South Korea maintained control and continued to threaten Jordan's goal during stoppage time but ultimately failed to score the winning goal.

The national team will play their final group stage match against Malaysia, coached by Kim Pan-gon, on the 25th at 8:30 PM.
