13.2 trillion steps. This is the cumulative number of steps taken last year by users of the application ‘Cashwalk’ operated by Nudge Healthcare. When converted based on the average adult stride length (66 cm), this figure is equivalent to traveling back and forth between the Earth and the Sun (approximately 150 million km) 29 times. Alternatively, it is the same as stacking the height of the Seoul Lotte World Tower (555 m) 15.7 billion times.
Launched in February 2017, Cashwalk is an app that introduced a pedometer on the phone’s lock screen. Its slogan is ‘The start of daily health management, the No.1 health management super app.’ It applies a system that rewards cash based on the number of steps taken. For every 100 steps walked, users earn 1 cash. The cash can be accumulated and exchanged for items such as coffee coupons.
Cashwalk recorded 10 million cumulative downloads just two years after its launch in 2019, and as of this month, it has surpassed 21 million cumulative downloads. The daily active users (DAU) have also exceeded 3.6 million. It is analyzed that the public’s increased interest in health following the COVID-19 endemic (periodic outbreak of infectious diseases) last year has established daily health management as a norm. Continuous improvements in app functionality and usability through the advancement of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) also contributed to attracting users. Cashwalk continuously updates the app to eliminate user inconveniences.
The business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) platform ‘Teamwork’ is a service launched to enhance the operational efficiency of digital healthcare projects for local governments, public institutions, and general corporate users. Within the Cashwalk app, Teamwork opens channels to operate various challenges. This year, from the 3rd to the 9th of this month, the ‘Woorimil Sprout Stomping Challenge’ was held in Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do.
There is also a ‘Running Crew’ service that encourages daily running exercise. It provides various running manuals by time and distance, and after running, users can review records such as calories burned and average pace.
A representative from Nudge Healthcare stated, “We aim to be a ‘Healthy-Tech Platform’ that motivates users to choose better behaviors for their health on their own,” and explained, “The cumulative number of steps last year increased by 6% compared to 2022, which is a meaningful figure proving that Cashwalk is helping users manage their health.”
