China's prestigious Tsinghua University recently disclosed key data related to its graduates, including employment rates, further education rates, and major employers, in response to a rumor. The rumor that Tsinghua University strongly refuted was the claim that "80% of Tsinghua graduates go abroad."
On the 18th (local time), Tsinghua University introduced materials related to the recently held Tsinghua Employment Conference on its official WeChat (Chinese social networking service) account. According to the data, the rate of Tsinghua graduates studying abroad was 8.0%.
For master's degree students, the rate of studying abroad was 5.9%, while the rate of continuing education domestically was 6.9%. As of 2023, the employment rate of graduates in regions outside Beijing was 53.8%. Over the past decade, most graduates have found jobs outside Beijing.
Regarding this, the university stated, "The number of employees in national defense, military industry, and western regions continues to increase," emphasizing that "they are blooming the flowers of youth where the motherland needs them most."
It was also noted that more than 80% of Tsinghua graduates are employed in important domestic sectors. Tsinghua introduced, "Among this year's graduates, 83.0% are employed in key departments related to the national economy and people's livelihood. Major contracting units include national defense science and technology, manufacturing, energy industry, information and communications, internet, public administration and services, universities and scientific research institutions, and several other important industrial sectors. Over the past decade, Tsinghua graduates have been active in China's critical fields."
Meanwhile, last year, the top two state-owned enterprises employing Tsinghua graduates were China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and China National Nuclear Corporation. The top two private companies were Huawei, China's largest telecommunications equipment company, and BYD, an electric vehicle manufacturer.
