The National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment announced on the 17th that it aligned 183 national environmental standards (KS) with international standards (ISO) last year.

Last year, the national standards aligned with international standards included 61 in the water environment sector, 35 in the residential noise sector, 24 in the soil sector, and 12 in the transportation environment sector.

When domestic and international standards are the same, companies do not need to differentiate between domestic and overseas products when developing technology or manufacturing products, thereby reducing costs. It also facilitates the overseas expansion of domestic companies.

The National Institute of Environmental Research has been steadily working to align environmental national standards with international standards, with 179 standards in 2021 and 86 standards in 2022.

This year, it plans to align 86 standards with international standards after reviewing user utilization surveys and changes in international standards through the Industrial Standards Deliberation Committee.

National standards that have been aligned with international standards can be checked on the e-Nara Standard Certification System.
