Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation Appoints Professor Jung Moo-Sung as 5th Chairman of the Board

The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation has appointed Professor Jeong Mu-seong of Soongsil University as its 5th chairman.


On the 16th, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation announced that it held an extraordinary board meeting on the 15th and appointed Professor Jeong as the new chairman. The foundation stated, "Chairman Jeong is a leading expert in CSR, having conducted various studies on corporate social responsibility both domestically and internationally, and advised on CSR strategy formulation for major companies," adding, "We expect him to make significant contributions to the foundation's growth as a global organization leading social innovation."

Chairman Jeong was born in 1959 and graduated from Soongsil University with a degree in English Literature and completed a master's program in Social Welfare at Seoul National University. He later earned a Ph.D. in Welfare Administration from the University of Chicago. He has served as the 5th president of Soongsil Cyber University, the 38th president of the Korean Association of Social Welfare, and the chairperson of the Social Welfare Facility Evaluation Committee at the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Since last year, he has been serving as the vice chairman of the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.


Meanwhile, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation was established in 2007 with a personal donation from Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-Koo. The chairmanship has been held by Lee Hee-beom, the 1st chairman (former Minister of Industry and Resources), Yoo Young-hak, the 2nd chairman (former Vice Minister of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs), Shin Soo-jung, the 3rd chairman (former dean of Seoul National University College of Music), and Kwon Oh-kyu, the 4th chairman (former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy).
