On that day, reporter Jang Yoon-seon said, "Today, director Bong Joon-ho, singer Yoon Jong-shin, and others gathered to issue a statement," adding, "They requested the investigative authorities, journalists, government, and National Assembly. The issue raised was whether there is no responsibility for leaking information during the preliminary investigation stage, which defamed the deceased's character."

Moon Sung-geun began, "I visited the funeral hall on the first evening of the funeral," and said, "The funeral hall was full of mourners, but it was quiet. No one was making loud noises."

He continued, "When meeting acquaintances, they would first embrace and sob," and said, "Friends who could not bear it at all cried out like screams, 'Is it okay to witch hunt celebrities like this? Shouldn't we do something? Because they have all felt this pain themselves.'"

Moon Sung-geun said, “On the first evening, among actors, directors, and producers of Lee Seon-gyun’s generation, the idea of ‘we must do something’ took hold. And today, about 2,000 people signed the statement that was announced. This is the first case of such a large-scale collective signature in the cultural and artistic community.”

He added, "There are opinions that 'we should have endured,' but actors have delicate emotions. The day before the incident, a phone call recording was played on a broadcast, and the person listening to it at that moment must have been shocked," emphasizing, "Demanding to endure like a steel chain is a contradictory request."

Finally, he said, "Lee Seon-gyun and Jeon Hye-jin are a couple from the theater company I belong to. I am at a loss for words," unable to continue.

Earlier that morning, the Cultural and Artistic Solidarity Meeting (hereafter Solidarity Meeting) held a press conference at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, and announced a statement titled ‘The Demands of Cultural and Artistic People Facing the Death of the Late Actor Lee Seon-gyun.’ Director Bong, who worked with Lee Seon-gyun on films such as 'Parasite,' actor Kim Eui-sung, singer Yoon Jong-shin, and director Lee Won-tae took turns reading the statement. Director Jang Hang-jun and actor Choi Deok-moon also attended.

At the event, Director Bong said, “We urge a thorough investigation into whether there was any breach of police security from the time information about the deceased’s investigation was first leaked until the extreme choice was made over the course of about two months,” and emphasized, “After the deceased tested negative for drugs in a detailed examination by the National Forensic Service, KBS’s report included many investigative details. The circumstances under which this information was provided must be thoroughly clarified.”

The Solidarity Meeting also requested the government and National Assembly to enact and revise related laws to prohibit the disclosure of criminal cases and protect human rights.
