Lotte Chilsung Beverage is accelerating the transition from existing aging internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles.
On the 12th, Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced that it will introduce the compact electric vehicle 'Ray EV' this year, raising the adoption rate of compact electric vehicles from the 3% range last year to 20% this year. With this, Lotte Chilsung Beverage is expected to sequentially introduce a total of 270 electric vehicles within the year, achieving a cumulative electric vehicle adoption rate of 25%.
Lotte Chilsung Beverage owns about 2,500 vehicles, including passenger cars, vans, and trucks, for sales and transportation purposes. Since starting the introduction of electric vehicles in 2021, as of last year, 59% of passenger cars and 50% of 1-ton trucks have been replaced with electric vehicles.
Lotte Chilsung Beverage plans to continuously introduce electric vehicles until 2030 and pursue the 'zero internal combustion engine vehicles' policy for vehicle types eligible for electric vehicle conversion. A Lotte Chilsung Beverage official stated, "As the infrastructure for electric vehicles and suitable vehicle types that can replace existing vehicles increase, we will continuously consider transitioning to electric vehicles to enhance industrial competitiveness and reduce environmental impact."
Lotte Chilsung Beverage is carrying out various activities to reduce greenhouse gases, including energy diagnosis and efficiency projects, expanding electric vehicle adoption, and transitioning to renewable energy. Going forward, the company plans to fulfill its social responsibility by converting sales vehicles mainly powered by internal combustion engines to zero-emission vehicles such as electric vehicles, improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions.
