Launch of 10 Public Relations Committee Members... Among 7 External Members, 3 Are 'Legal Professionals' (Comprehensive)

Including 'Chinyun' Lee Cheol-gyu
Jang Dong-hyuk and Lee Jong-sung also on the list

Han Dong-hoon, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, revealed the list of 10 nomination management committee members who will oversee the party's candidate screening at the 4th Emergency Response Committee meeting held on the 11th at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center. The committee consists of the previously announced Chairman Jeong Young-hwan, three party insiders, and six external members. All external members have no prior political experience.

Ex officio members include Secretary-General Jang Dong-hyuk and lawmakers Lee Cheol-gyu and Lee Jong-seong. Lawmaker Lee, considered a key figure in the pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) faction, is included. External members joining the committee are Moon Hye-young, attorney at law firm Sejong; Yoo Il-jun, former Public Service Discipline Secretary at the Office of Civil Affairs; Yoon Seung-joo, professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at Korea University College of Medicine; Jeon Jong-hak, chief patent attorney at Kyungeun International Patent Law Firm; Jeon Hye-jin, vice president of the Korean Hotel, Food and Tourism Management Association; and Hwang Hyung-joon, managing partner at Boston Consulting Group Korea.

The composition of the nomination committee reflects Chairman Han’s Emergency Response Committee appointment policy, symbolized by the '789 generation' (people in their 70s, 80s, and 90s). Among the six external members, four were born in the 1970s, forming the core group. Moon Hye-young, born in 1979, holds a master's degree in law from Seoul National University Graduate School and currently works as an attorney at law firm Sejong. She is the youngest member of the nomination committee. Lawmaker Lee Jong-seong, who entered the 21st National Assembly as a proportional representative after serving as Secretary-General of the Korea Disabled Persons Association, was born in 1970.

After the meeting, Chairman Han told reporters regarding the 'in-house composition' criteria of the nomination committee, "Secretary-General Jang does not belong to any faction," adding, "He is evaluated as highly competent, and after working with him for one to two weeks, I believe that evaluation is accurate." When asked if the nomination of Lee Cheol-gyu, considered a key figure in the pro-Yoon faction, indicated the influence of 'Yoon’s will,' he responded, "No. The party is currently led by me and the nomination committee chairman," emphasizing, "We will conduct fair, persuasive, and winning nominations."

Regarding reports that some nomination committee members might not run for office, he drew a clear line, saying, "There is no such regulation. Those reports came out yesterday, but they are not based on conversations I had. The nomination committee members have never said they would not run."

The nomination committee is expected to operate for the next 10 weeks. Based on the party audit results, it plans to pursue system-based nominations and avoid artificial candidate exclusions (cut-offs). There is also an interpretation that this could accelerate generational change and the replacement of senior figures in the Yeongnam region. It is known that in key areas such as Daegu and Gyeongbuk (TK), the plan is to nominate 'winnable candidates.'

Along with the nomination committee appointments, the party positions under Han Dong-hoon’s Emergency Response Committee system were finalized. Kim Jong-hyuk, chairman of the Goyang City Byeong District Party Committee in Gyeonggi Province, was appointed as Deputy Head of Organization; Kim Soo-min, chairman of the Cheongwon District Party Committee in Cheongju, Chungbuk, was appointed as Head of Public Relations; and Bae Jun-young remained as Deputy Head of Strategic Planning.
