The Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency held a public identity disclosure review committee on the 10th and decided to release Lee's name, age, face, and other personal information.

In particular, Lee's "mugshot" (a photograph recording the suspect's appearance) was also made public. This follows the passage of the "Mugshot Disclosure Act" at the National Assembly plenary session last October, which allows investigative agencies to forcibly photograph and disclose the faces of suspects in serious crimes.

Lee is accused of murdering a woman in her 60s, Ms. A, who was operating alone at an underground teahouse in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang City, around 7 p.m. on the 30th of last month. He is also accused of killing another woman in her 60s, Ms. B, the owner of a teahouse on the second floor of a building in Yangju City, around 8:30 a.m. on the 5th.

After the murders, Lee is also believed to have stolen approximately 300,000 won in cash from the stores.

The Special Act on the Punishment of Specific Violent Crimes stipulates that the identity of a suspect may be disclosed if ▲the crime was committed by cruel means and caused serious damage ▲there is sufficient evidence to believe the suspect committed the crime ▲it is necessary for the public interest ▲and the suspect is not a juvenile.
