According to a joint poll conducted by major foreign media and the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan on the 7th (local time), 67% of Republican supporters believe Trump is the most suitable candidate among the Republican primary contenders to handle the U.S. economy.

Among Republican supporters, only 8% considered former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who is trailing Trump, as the right candidate. Another contender, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, received just 9% of the same response.

During his campaign, former President Trump emphasized his economic achievements during his tenure and claimed that if re-elected, the next economic boom would begin immediately.

Former Ambassador Haley asserted that she is a fiscal conservative and criticized the billions of dollars in federal spending under both the Trump and Biden administrations. Governor DeSantis pledged to cut taxes and impose the same federal income tax on all Americans if elected. However, foreign media reported that the pledges of the two candidates seem insufficient to catch up with Trump's lead.

Among voters without party affiliation, 36% said they trust Trump the most in economic matters. Only 10% of unaffiliated voters trusted Haley the most in economic issues. Among unaffiliated voters, 23% responded that they do not trust any Republican candidate on economic matters.

The poll was conducted from the 28th of last month to the 2nd of this month, surveying 1,000 U.S. voters.

With the U.S. presidential election scheduled for November 5, the Republican Party will begin the presidential primary process starting with the Iowa caucuses on the 15th. Currently, former President Trump leads the Republican primary polls by double-digit margins.
