Realmeter "President Yoon's Approval Rating Drops 1.5% in First Week of New Year to 35.7%"

President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration has slightly declined, falling to the mid-30% range.

According to a regular public opinion poll released on the 8th by the polling agency Realmeter (conducted via ARS automated response method over five days from the 2nd to the 5th, targeting 2,016 adults aged 18 and over nationwide at the request of Energy Economy Newspaper), President Yoon's approval rating dropped by 1.5 percentage points from the previous week's survey to 35.7%. The disapproval rating for his administration rose by 1.2 percentage points to 60.8%.

A notable point regarding President Yoon's approval rating is that in the Chungcheong region, including Sejong, Daejeon, and Chungcheong, the approval rating increased by 8.1 percentage points (from 32.7% to 40.8%). Conversely, in Incheon and Gyeonggi, the approval rating fell by 6.7 percentage points (from 36.8% to 31.9%).

Looking at the daily approval rating for President Yoon's administration, it showed a downward trend after recording 36.6% on the 29th of last month, with 36.4% on the 3rd, 35.8% on the 4th, and 35.1% on the 5th.

In terms of party support (conducted via ARS automated response method over two days from the 4th to the 5th, targeting 1,003 adults aged 18 and over nationwide), the Democratic Party of Korea's support rose by 0.9 percentage points to 44.5%, while the People Power Party's support fell by 1.5 percentage points to 36.6%. As a result, the gap between the two major parties' support, which had narrowed to 5.5 percentage points in the previous survey, widened again to 7.9% this time.
