One egg, known as the cheapest and most reliable source of protein, has become a hot topic for containing four yolks. On the 26th, the Korea Poultry Association reported that Mr. Kim (64), living in Songpa-gu, Seoul, found four yolks in an egg he purchased. Mr. Kim bought a large egg at a market on the 22nd and cracked it open to fry it. During this, he discovered that the egg had four yolks on the frying pan and contacted the Poultry Association to report the incident.
In Korea, there have been occasional cases of eggs containing up to three yolks, but this is the first time an egg with four yolks has been found. An association official said, "The probability of getting four yolks is extremely rare," and added, "I was surprised to hear this story."
Overseas, in February, Ms. Tully from the UK made headlines after discovering an egg with four yolks while preparing breakfast. At that time, the British Egg Information Service announced that one in every 1,000 eggs contains two yolks, and the probability of finding an egg with four yolks is one in 11 billion.
Meanwhile, the protein in egg whites is a nutrient necessary for building and repairing muscles. It produces digestive hormones and supports overall growth and development. Although egg yolks also contain a lot of protein, most of the vitamins and minerals in eggs are concentrated in the yolk. The yolk is a good source of vitamins A, D, E, K, and B vitamins such as B12 and folate. It also contains minerals like iron and zinc. However, yolks contain some unsaturated fats that can be harmful to vascular health, have higher calories, and include dietary cholesterol.
