Gyeonggi Province is investing 78.9 billion KRW to carry out a project to construct a new 2-lane road (3.5 km) and overlay an existing 2-lane road (1.6 km) over a total distance of 5.1 km, from Buk-ri, Namsa-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si to Songjeon-ri, Idong-eup.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that following the completion of the "Basic and Detailed Design Service for the Construction of National Road No. 82 Yongin Jangji-Namsa Road" by the Seoul Regional Land Management Office and the transfer of the design documents to Gyeonggi Province on the 19th, the province will proceed with administrative procedures such as road zone designation and compensation for the road construction project.

To expedite the project, Gyeonggi Province has allocated 5 billion KRW for compensation costs in next year's main budget, plans to complete the road zone designation in the first half of next year, and will begin full-scale compensation in the second half.

Kang Hyun-il, Director of the Road Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Yongin Jangji-Namsa section is densely populated with surrounding factories, warehouses, and apartment complexes, causing severe traffic congestion during commuting hours. Additionally, traffic volume is expected to increase due to the settlement of the Tongsam District and the Southwest Logistics Complex," adding, "We will thoroughly carry out administrative procedures to ensure the road project can commence as soon as possible."
